PESHAWAR, Jul 29 (APP):Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, on Tuesday emphasized the province’s strategic role as a natural hub for regional trade due to its geographical location, cultural heritage and rich natural resources. He said KP has the potential to boost the national economy by enhancing trade with Central Asian countries.
He expressed these views while addressing a high-level conference titled “Trade Potential of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with Neighboring and Central Asian Countries” held at the Governor House, Peshawar on Tuesday, where he was the chief guest.
The event was attended by ambassadors and diplomatic staff from Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan, as well as the Consul Generals of Iran and Afghanistan. Prominent business figures, including the President of Khyber Chamber of Commerce, Director TDAP Peshawar, Chairman of Gemological Institute Peshawar, and UBG’s S.M. Tanveer also participated.
Governor Kundi welcomed the foreign dignitaries and business leaders and congratulated the Khyber Chamber of Commerce and TDAP for organizing the conference.
He said such forums are vital milestones in exploring cross-border trade routes and advancing KP’s economic development.
He said that KP’s people are hardworking and skilled and the province is rich in resources like minerals, marble, honey, gemstones, IT and agriculture. These sectors, he said, are ready for global exports, provided that efforts are made in investment, quality enhancement, and branding.
“Today’s world is moving toward trade and we must facilitate commercial routes to keep pace,” he remarked, calling for practical steps to expand trade across all KP border points.
Governor Kundi also urged trade missions to promote KP’s products and opportunities internationally to attract foreign investment. At the end of the ceremony, he presented commemorative shields to foreign diplomats and business leaders on behalf of the Khyber Chamber of Commerce.
