Malakand Commissioner reviews arrangements for Pakistan Independence Day celebrations

PESHAWAR, Jul 29 (APP):A meeting was held in the conference room of the Commissioner Office under the chairmanship of Commissioner Malakand Division, Abid Wazir, regarding the preparations for the “Battle for Truth” and the Independence Day celebrations of Pakistan on August 14.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioner of Swat, CEO of WSSC Mingora Swat, Additional Deputy Commissioners (General and Finance) Swat, Regional Municipal Officer Malakand, Assistant Commissioners (Babuzai, Charbagh, Matta), District Education Officers (male and female) Swat, trainee Assistant Commissioners, Assistant Director of Upper Swat Development Authority, and Divisional Forest Officer Kalam. Meanwhile, the Chief Conservator of Forests, other Deputy Commissioners of Malakand Division, and relevant officials participated via video link.
Chairing the meeting, Commissioner Malakand briefed the participants on the directives issued by the provincial government to celebrate the “Battle for Truth” and Independence Day 2025 with national enthusiasm and spirit.
He further stated that this year, Independence Day will be celebrated as “Freedom Week” from August 7 to August 14, 2025.
The Commissioner instructed all Deputy Commissioners to hold meetings with their respective district departments and finalize programs and activities to mark the “Battle for Truth” and Independence Day in a befitting manner. He also directed them to adopt a comprehensive strategy to organize speeches, national anthem recitations, various sports, and arts competitions in educational institutions.
Moreover, the Upper Swat and Kumrat Development Authorities, along with the concerned Tehsil Municipal Administrations, were instructed to conduct a special cleanliness campaign in tourist areas from August 7 to August 14, 2025.
The Commissioner directed the Chief Conservator of Forests Malakand to organize a special plantation campaign during this period.
To ensure smooth traffic flow at tourist spots during Independence Day celebrations, the concerned district police will formulate special security and traffic plans.
Finally, Commissioner Malakand appealed to the people of Malakand Division to celebrate the “Battle for Truth” and Independence Day with national zeal by decorating their homes, neighborhoods, and vehicles with Pakistani flags.
