LAHORE, Jul 28 (APP):An 11-year-old girl, abducted from Lahore’s Kahna area, was successfully recovered from Karachi through the coordinated efforts of the Safe Cities Authority, Lahore Police and Sindh Police.
According to a spokesperson for the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA), the child, identified as Aayat, went missing while playing outside her residence. Upon her disappearance, the parents immediately contacted the emergency helpline 15 to report the incident.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspected abductor had taken the girl on-board a train bound for Karachi. During the journey, the abductor allegedly abandoned the child, who later found herself alone when she regained full consciousness.
The girl contacted authorities using a mobile phone borrowed from a fellow passenger at Rohri Railway Station, informing them of her location. Upon receiving the alert, the Virtual Center for Child Safety at PSCA immediately coordinated with the Railway Police to ensure the child’s protection.
Railway Police took custody of the girl at Rohri and later transferred her to Karachi Cantt Police Station. The child’s father, accompanied by an investigation officer, travelled to Karachi to retrieve her.
The child was safely reunited with her parents following the joint efforts of the PSCA, Lahore Police, and Sindh Police, the spokesperson confirmed.
Citizens are urged to report any information regarding missing or unidentified persons by calling the emergency helpline 15, the spokesperson added.
