QUETTA, Jul 26 (APP):The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Balochistan has completed its preparations ahead of the anticipated monsoon rains, ensuring full readiness to respond to potential emergencies across the province.
According to PDMA Director Faisal Tariq, the proactive measures were taken under special directives from Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti. All necessary precautions have been implemented prior to the onset of the rainy season.
“In light of possible emergency situations, all PDMA staff leaves have been canceled, and a robust 24/7 monitoring and response system is now in place,” Director Tariq added.
Heavy machinery has been pre-positioned in vulnerable districts to support rescue and relief efforts. Additionally, six newly constructed divisional headquarters are now operational and will soon receive relief supplies for rapid deployment if needed.
“These centers will ensure timely delivery of aid to their respective districts,” added PDMA official Faisal Tariq Yousafzai, noting that the decentralization of operations is expected to greatly enhance the department’s emergency response capabilities.
PDMA’s control room will remain fully functional around the clock throughout the monsoon season, enabling constant coordination and swift intervention.
The authority’s forward planning is aimed at mitigating the risks posed by flash floods and other rain-related hazards to communities, infrastructure, and agricultural land across Balochistan.
