LAHORE, Jul 26 (APP):The 70th birthday of the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, was celebrated in a grand manner by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Punjab chapter on Saturday. Various events and programs were organized by local and provincial PPP leaders to mark the occasion.
A group of workers, led by senior PPP leader and member of the Federal Council, Haji Aziz-ur-Rehman Chan, visited the shrine of renowned Sufi saint Hazrat Ali Hajveri (RA), where they offered prayers for President Zardari’s health and long life.
Another senior PPP leader, Faisal Mir, hosted a seminar at a local hotel, highlighting the political journey and contributions of President Zardari.
PPP South Punjab President, Makhdoom Syed Ahmed Mahmood, extended heartfelt congratulations to President Zardari in a special statement. He praised the President as a remarkable figure who, despite enduring the hardships of imprisonment during dictatorial regimes, never allowed the flame of democracy to be extinguished.
“President Zardari’s immense political wisdom, strategic insight, patience, and sacrifices have played a vital role in keeping Pakistan on the path of constitutional and democratic governance,” Makhdoom said. He added that the slogan “Pakistan Khappay” symbolizes national unity, selflessness, and extraordinary foresight — a testament to President Zardari’s unwavering commitment and deep political understanding.
Makhdoom further stated that President Zardari is the only leader in the country’s history to be elected president twice, during which he strengthened the parliamentary system while remaining within constitutional limits. “By promoting the politics of reconciliation, he transformed political chaos into national unity and harmony,” he said. “Under his leadership, democracy not only endured but also empowered the oppressed segments of society.”
Several cake-cutting ceremonies were also held across the provincial capital to pay tribute to President Asif Ali Zardari and celebrate his lifelong contributions to democracy and political stability in Pakistan.
