SIALKOT, Jul 24 (APP):The District Quality Control Board, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Saba Asghar Ali, reviewed 31 cases against medical stores across the district during a meeting held at the DC Office, here on Thursday.
The board approved the referral of five cases to the drug court for legal proceedings, while eight stores were issued formal warnings for various violations. Re-inspections were ordered in nine cases to verify the reported irregularities. Hearings in eight cases were postponed until the next meeting. One case, involving a serious breach, was recommended for registration under the Drug Control Act.
The violations under review included the sale of medicines without a valid licence, stocking of expired and banned drugs, sale of unregistered medicines, lack of proper record-keeping, absence of qualified pharmacists, and failure to maintain the cold chain for sensitive drugs.
DC Saba Asghar Ali stressed that there would be zero tolerance for negligence in matters related to public health. She assured that strict legal action would be taken against those involved in selling substandard or illegal medicines to ensure public access to safe and quality pharmaceuticals.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Ayub Bukhari, CEO Health Dr Aslam Chaudhry, Board Secretary Farah, and Drug Inspectors from all four tehsils.
