Sargodha, Jul 22 (APP):Commissioner Sargodha Jahanzeb Awan took swift action upon learning of a sudden sinkhole on Silanwali Road near Patha Mandi late night.
According to the spokesperson for the Commissioner office here on Tuesday, the Commissioner ordered the Chief Officer Municipal Corporation and Managing Director(MD) WASA Azizullah Khan to visit the site immediately.
The officials inspected the site and took initial safety measures by covering the hazardous area with reflective tape to ensure citizen safety.
Preliminary reports suggest that the sinkhole was not due to a “crown failure” but may be related to excavation work by PTCL for fiber optic line repairs.
MD WASA said that a technical team will conduct a thorough inspection and repair work has been starting to restore the road to its normal condition.
The commissioner has directed the concerned departments to expedite the repair work to minimize disruptions to citizens.
