ISLAMABAD, Jul 21 (APP):The Punjab Sports Board held a handover ceremony on Monday to transfer the country’s first dedicated Cricket Stadium for the Blind to the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC).
The ceremony, held at the E-Library near Gaddafi Stadium, was attended by Malik Faisal Ayoub Khokhar, Minister for Sports, Government of Punjab; Muzafar Khan Sial, Secretary for Sports, Government of Punjab; Khizar Afzaal Chaudhary, Director General for Sports, Government of Punjab and Syed Sultan Shah, Chairman of PBCC. Also present were Dr. Anwar Sial, Director of Finance (PBCC); Syed M. Salman Tariq Bukhari, Director of Marketing (PBCC); and Abdul Razzaq, Director of Information & Coordination (PBCC), along with other distinguished guests, said a press release.
Syed Sultan Shah, Chairman of PBCC and President of the World Blind Cricket Council, highlighted the significance of the occasion, stating that this is the first-ever dedicated stadium for blind cricket anywhere in the world — a milestone not just for Pakistan, but for the global blind cricket community.
The World Champion Pakistan Blind Cricket Team was also invited to witness this historic moment. Additionally, blind cricket players from Okara, Gujranwala, and Lahore were present to take part in the celebration.
Following the formal signing of the handover agreement, the Sports Board Punjab officially transferred ownership and operational responsibility of the stadium to PBCC.
The Pakistan Blind Cricket Council will now take full charge of the stadium’s operational framework and ongoing maintenance. The facility is dedicated to the promotion and development of blind cricket across the country.
All attendees expressed a shared commitment to transforming the stadium into a central hub for identifying, nurturing, and showcasing blind cricket talent at both provincial and national levels.
