FAISALABAD, Jul 21 (APP):Water & Sanitation Agency (WASA) has expedited its anti-dengue campaign across the city with special focus for elimination of all dengue breeding sites from its offices and disposal stations.
In this connection, Managing Director (MD) WASA Sohail Qadir Cheema along with Citizen Liaison Cell WASA visited Jamia Masjid Moti Mohallah in Sharifpura Batala Colony where the students were given a lecture on dengue prevention and awareness pamphlets were distributed.
Speaking on the occasion, the MD WASA said that stagnant water provides an ideal environment for dengue mosquitoes to breed. Therefore, precautionary measures are urgently needed, he added.
He highlighted the importance of maintaining cleanliness and urged to ensure that no water accumulates anywhere especially during and after rains.
He said that daily cleaning routines are being implemented at WASA head office, other official buildings, disposal stations and water tank rooftops to prevent any possibility of standing water.
He clarified that the Citizen Liaison Cell has been actively working to raise public awareness about the serious and seasonal threat posed by dengue.
He said that strict implementation of dengue SOPs issued by the Punjab government would remain a top priority and any negligence in this regard would not be tolerated.
