ISLAMABAD, Jul 19 (APP): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has said that the historic July 19, 1947 resolution reflects the Kashmiris’ deep-rooted and unconditional love for Pakistan, as it was on this day that the Kashmiri leadership unanimously decided to link the future of Jammu and Kashmir with Pakistan.
APHC-AJK Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi, in a statement issued on Saturday, said that the historic Resolution of Accession to Pakistan unanimously adopted by the Kashmiri leadership in Srinagar on July 19, 1947 remains a defining moment in the region’s history, Kashmir Media reported.
He emphasized that the resolution continues to serve as a cornerstone of the Kashmiri people’s freedom struggle and a symbol of their unwavering bond with Pakistan.
Safi noted that the decision reflected the collective will, aspirations, and emotional attachment of Kashmiri Muslims, who chose to align their future with Pakistan based on shared political, cultural, and religious values.
Other APHC-AJK leaders, including Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, Altaf Hussain Wani, Syed Faiz Naqashbandi, and Shamim Shawl, in their separate statements from Islamabad, reiterated that the July 19, 1947 resolution remains profoundly relevant today especially in the context of the evolving political situation in India.
They described the 19th July Resolution as a historic declaration that showcased the Kashmiri leadership’s resolve to protect the identity, culture and political future of the majority population of the territory.
“The resolution represented the will of nearly 85 percent of the state’s population and affirmed their inherent right to self-determination,” they stated.
Despite decades of brutal repression, Kashmiris remain undefeated in their pursuit of freedom from Indian occupation and will continue to draw strength from this foundational political resolution of 19 July 1947.
They said that the day had also assumed great significance in the history of Kashmir because the historic resolution was adopted a month before the creation of Pakistan and India under the Partition Plan.
“This was the reason that the day when Pakistan came into being as a sovereign independent state, was celebrated throughout Jammu and Kashmir with great fanfare”, the statements said. They said that it was an undeniable fact that Jammu and Kashmir was geographically, historically and culturally linked to Pakistan.
Referring to the Kashmiris’ matchless sacrifices, they said the people of Kashmir have rendered matchless sacrifices to achieve the cherished goal of freedom.
