KARACHI, Jul 18 (APP):The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), in collaboration with the International Centre for Commerce & Development (ICCD), organized a landmark Medical Tourism Conference in Karachi to spotlight Pakistan’s growing potential as a medical tourism destination, particularly for patients from OIC member countries.
Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, Senior Vice President FPCCI, delivered the keynote address, stressing that Pakistani doctors and medical institutions are of international standards, said a press release on Friday.
He noted that countries like Turkiye, India, Iran, and China have already capitalized on medical tourism and emphasized that Pakistan too could earn valuable foreign exchange by promoting this sector.
The event drew participation from several distinguished speakers and industry stakeholders. Among them were Zubair Tufail, former President FPCCI; Salman Javed, Convener of FPCCI’s Central Standing Committee on Tourism Economy; Lt. Gen Sardar Hassan Azhar Hayat (Retd), MD Green Tourism Pvt Ltd; Atif Hanif, President & CEO, AlBaraka Bank Pakistan; Saima Agha, Parliamentary Secretary, Government of Sindh; Dr Farhat Abbas, CEO, Aga Khan University Hospital; and Dr Habib-Ur-Rahman, Chairman of Shifa International Hospitals.
The speakers collectively highlighted Pakistan’s competitive edge in medical expertise, cost-effective treatment, and state-of-the-art facilities, calling for strategic initiatives and government support to unlock the full potential of the medical tourism sector.
