Election Code of Conduct to be implemented strictly: DC

NAWABSHAH, Jun 26 (APP):The Election Code of Conduct issued by Election Commission of Pakistan for political parties and candidates contesting Election- 2018 would be implemented strictly.
This was stated by the Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Zaman Narejo while addressing a meeting on Monday with the representatives of political parties, candidates contesting election and members of Monitoring Team regarding implementation of Code of Conduct. He said that action would be taken against those political parties and candidates who were not abiding by the Code of Conduct under Election rules and laws.
Narejo urged political parties and contesting candidates to remove their banners and panaflex and sign boards larger than the size specified by Election Commission. He also instructed for removal of such banners, panaflex and party flags and wall chalking from the government buildings and installations within two days failing which the district administration would take action in this regard. He stressed upon the political parties to cooperate with the district administration and abide by election rules.
The Deputy Commissioner directed members of Monitoring Team to submit daily report to district administration regarding contravention of Election rules in their respective areas as negligence in this regard would not be tolerated.
Addressing the meeting, Senior Superintendent of Police Pir Muhammad Shah said that Sindh Police had extended cooperation to Election Commission and District Administration regarding holding of fair and transparent elections. He said that the leaders of the political parties and contesting candidates have to submit application personally in case they face security apprehensions following which the Regional Threat Assessment Committee formed at divisional level would take a view of the application to provide security.
Regional Election Commissioner Syed Nadeem Hyder in his address said that Election Commission had issued Code of Conduct for political parties and contesting candidates to make the election process transparent. He said that two Monitoring officers are posted for each provincial constituency to ensure implementation of Code of Conduct during election campaign while Deputy Commissioner is assigned as District Monitoring Officer. He also appealed representatives of political parties and independent candidates for cooperation with administration to ensure implementation of Code of Conduct.
Local leaders of political parties assured to abide by election Code of Conduct and presented different proposals for implementation in this regard.
The meeting was attended by Regional Election Commissioner Syed Nadeem Hyder, SSP Pir Muhammad Shah, District Election Commissioner Zahid Hussain Bhutto, Monitoring officer of District Provincial constituency, representatives of political parties, Ali Akbar Jamali, Syed Zahid Shah, Younus Qureshi, Zahoor Qureshi Muslim Channa and others.
