SARGODHA, Jul 17 (APP):In the wake of heavy rainfall and floodwaters affecting infrastructure across Punjab, Provincial Minister for Communication and Works, Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth on Thursday made a surprise visit to Pind Dadan Khan to assess the damage.
According to a press release issued here, the minister visited various sections of the Lilla–Jhelum Road, where he conducted a detailed inspection of the damage caused by floodwaters, particularly a 1.5-kilometer stretch in Section-II. He also reviewed water accumulation on different portions of Section-V.
Officials from the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) briefed the provincial minister on the current situation, pointing out that water flowing from the hilly areas on the Chakwal side had caused significant damage.
Taking immediate action, Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth instructed the Executive Engineer (XEN) Jhelum to begin urgent repairs on the damaged road sections. He also directed the FWO to accelerate the pace of ongoing rehabilitation work.
The minister later departed for Chakwal to continue assessments of flood-affected areas. Speaking to the media, he affirmed that Communication & Works Department officers are actively present in the field and that prompt repair work is underway to restore damaged highways across the province.
“We are thoroughly reviewing roads throughout Punjab and ensuring that any damage caused by the rain and floodwaters is repaired without delay,” said Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth.
