LAHORE, Jul 17 (APP):The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has intensified its efforts to ensure a cleaner environment throughout the city.
According to LWMC sources here on Thursday, following the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for Suthra Punjab, LWMC Chief Executive Officer Babar Sahib Din had directed officers to conduct surprise visits in the field to monitor ongoing cleaning operations. More than 5,000 waste containers were being cleared daily during the morning shift.
Manual and mechanical sweeping was in full swing across all major roads of the city.
Both commercial markets and residential areas were being targeted for zero waste under a phased plan.
Special cleaning teams had been deployed at key entry and exit points of the city, including Babu Sabu, Thokar Niaz Baig, Sagiyan Bridge, and Ravi Bridge.
Cleaning operations were ongoing in major areas such as Ferozepur Road, Jail Road, Mall Road, and Gulberg.
CEO Babar Sahib Din reiterated that ensuring top-tier sanitation in all union councils was a priority and all available resources are being utilized for timely provision of cleanliness services to the public.
He urged citizens to act responsibly by disposing of garbage in designated bins, avoiding illegal dumping in streets, neighborhoods and open plots.
