ISLAMABAD, Jul 17 (APP):The Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) has established the National Youth Games Council (NYGC) as the key body to organize and supervise the first ever National Youth Games.
According to a notification issued here, the decision to establish the council was taken during the Executive Committee Meeting of the POA.
The council will serve as the principal body overseeing the policy-making, strategic direction, and organizational vision of the National Youth Games.
The Chairman of the Prime Minister Youth Programme (PMYP) Rana Mashood Ahmed has been appointed as the Chairman of the NYGC, while the President of the Pakistan Olympic Association Arif Saeed will serve as the Co-Chair and Secretary General POA Muhammad Khalid Mehmood will act as secretary of NYGC.
The council includes representatives from federal and provincial sports bodies, Army sports directorates, and key stakeholders from across Pakistan’s sports landscape including Federal Secretary for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Mohyuddin Wani, Director General, Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Yasir Pirzada, Senior and Lady Vice Presidents of POA Fatima Lakhani, Director General Fitness & Sports Directorate, Pakistan Army, Director General Sports from Punjab, Sindh, KP, Balochistan, AJK, and Gilgit-Baltistan, Chief Commissioner Islamabad Capital Territory, Director Sports of Higher Education Commission (HEC), Presidents of the Provincial Olympic Associations, Representatives from the POA Athletes Commission and POA Sports Commission, Treasurer and Associate Secretary General POA while Aisam ul Haq, Associate Secretary General POA, will act as Coordinator.
The notification highlights that the committee is entrusted with the responsibility to act as the principal body overseeing the planning and execution of the National Youth Games, ensuring the strategic direction aligns with the vision of promoting youth sports development in Pakistan.
