RAWALPINDI, Jul 17 (APP):Rawalpindi’s Cantonment localities has been among the areas of the city that received heavy rainfall for the past 24 hours to which, the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has mobilized its resources to address the situation effectively.
On the directives of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Syed Ali Irfan Rizvi, Deputy CEO Nasir Kamal conducted inspections of various areas within the cantonment to examine the response efforts. Deputy CEO Kamal instructed RCB staff to remain active in the field to manage the ongoing crisis.
RCB’s Jan Colony, Allama Iqbal Colony, Tench Bhatta, Kamalabad, Mughal are the areas which usually come across chaos during the heavy rainfall.
According to Deputy CEO Nasir Kamal, RCB teams are actively working to ensure proper drainage of rainwater across the cantonment areas.
“We are fully prepared to handle any emergency situation arising due to the heavy rainfall,” he said.
To ensure uninterrupted operations, all leaves for RCB staff have been canceled during the monsoon season.
He further emphasized that RCB personnel and officers have been present in low-lying areas since late last night to reduce flooding risks. He assured that measures are in place to prevent water accumulation at any location within the cantonment.
“The RCB had proactively initiated the cleaning of drainage channels before the onset of the monsoon to minimize flooding risks”, said the deputy chief RCB.
The RCB has also issued a public advisory, urging residents to take precautions during the heavy rainfall. Citizens are requested to prevent children from going near stormwater drains and to stay away from electric poles to avoid accidents or damage.
