Sindh Home Minister inaugurates Sindh Police Driving School

KARACHI, Jul 15 (APP):Sindh Home Minister Zia-Ul-Hassan Lanjar formally inaugurated the Sindh Police Driving School at Police Training School, Saeedabad here on Tuesday.
Upon his arrival, a special police contingent presented him with a guard of honor. On this occasion, the Additional IGP Training gave a detailed briefing on the establishment of the driving school and its objectives.
The Sindh Home Minister Zia-Ul-Hasan said that the Sindh Police Driving School is a gift for the citizens. With its establishment and full operational status, only trained drivers will be allowed to operate various vehicles. He emphasized that this initiative was essential to make roads and highways safer and prevent accidents.
Moreover, after receiving formal training from the Sindh Police Driving School, the mindset of disregarding traffic laws will be eliminated, and drivers will adopt adherence to the law as a principle. He expressed strong hope that this school will eventually prove to be a milestone in the history of Sindh Police and will function as a full-fledged institution.
He further said that to improve traffic management and regulatory systems, collective effort is required. All stakeholders must ensure their fullest cooperation with a unified approach. He also appreciated the efforts and initiatives of DIG Traffic Control Pir Muhammad Shah in enforcing traffic laws in the city.
He noted that after positive amendments to traffic laws, the majority of penalties are being imposed on government employees to ensure compliance with the law at the official level as well.
The IGP Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon said that the Police Driving School will play a vital role in preventing accidents. He mentioned plans to further develop this school under a public-private partnership in the near future. Officers with good reputations have been appointed in the traffic police to enhance public trust in the police and to truly promote citizen-friendly policing.
He added that efforts are also underway to strengthen the Driving License Branch, making the process of issuing and obtaining driving licenses more effective and transparent in every respect. He stated that body-worn cameras have enhanced police capabilities.
He intends to recommend to the Government of Sindh that the draft of proposed amendments to traffic laws be finalized soon. He concluded by stating that work on the Safe City Project is ongoing, and in the future, this project will bring significant improvements to the traffic system
