Swat tragedy inquiry report submitted to PHC

PESHAWAR, Jul 15 (APP): The detailed investigation report on the Swat tragedy has been submitted to the Peshawar High Court (PHC), according to official sources on Tuesday.
The 384-page report covers preparations before and after the floods,  and the suspension of responsible officials.
The report, prepared by a designated inquiry committee, includes statements from 10 officers and individuals held accountable for the incident. It reveals that three days after the Swat tragedy, the Chief Minister ordered an operation against illegal encroachments in the affected areas.
During the investigation, officers from various departments were summoned separately for questioning. The report also highlights the shortcomings in the existing system and the steps taken prior to the disaster.
Furthermore, documented evidence such as weather forecasts, official notifications regarding the imposition of Section 144, and advance warnings related to monsoon rains were submitted to the court. The report aims at providing a comprehensive view of the failures and actions surrounding the devastating incident.
