PESHAWAR, Jul 15 (APP):In a major setback for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarians (PTIP), Pervez Khattak has resigned as the party chairman.
According to his resignation letter, Khattak stated that due to serious health conditions, he could no longer continue fulfilling the responsibilities of party chairman.
Meanwhile, PTIP has officially confirmed that former Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mahmood Khan, has been appointed as the new chairman, replacing Pervez Khattak.
In a significant statement released to the media, PTIP General Secretary Malik Habib Noor Orakzai clarified that Pervez Khattak no longer holds any position or affiliation with the party.
He emphasized that any reports or social media posts linking Khattak with PTIP are completely baseless and misleading.
“The leadership of PTIP is now firmly under Chairman Mahmood Khan,” Orakzai stated. “There is no connection whatsoever between Pervez Khattak and the party anymore. All decisions are being made in consultation with Mahmood Khan, particularly in preparation for the upcoming Senate elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”
He urged the media, party workers, and the public to rely only on official statements issued by PTIP and to refrain from spreading or believing in unfounded rumors.
He added that the party continues its strategic discussions regarding future political plans under the new leadership, aiming for a unified and clear direction ahead of the electoral process.
