ISLAMABAD, Jun 22 (APP):Sakafat in collaboration with the European Union funded Sindh Union Council and Community Economic Strengthening Support (SUCCESS) Programme will arrange a vibrant “SUCCESS Sakafat Mela” on Sunday at Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA).
The mela aims to promote the cultural diversity of Pakistan while celebrating social development done by
Rural Support Programmes Network (RSPN) through SUCCESS programme in Sindh.
The exhibition at the SUCCESS Sakafat Mela will start at 10 am showcasing a variety of stalls ranging from crafts, clothing, jewellery, home décor to traditional food.
A seminar on poverty reduction through women empowerment will be held at the PNCA Auditorium at 5pm.
The panelists will include Director General PNCA Jamal Shah, Ms Shandana Khan (CEO RSPN), Dr Abdul Basit, Dr Maria Sultan Director General of the South Asian Strategic Stability Institute, Ms Fozia Community Activist from LSO Chira, moderated by Aliya Qaiser, anchor PTV.
The seminar will be followed by a theatre play titled Roshni at 6pm, performed by True Theatre and focusing on societal issues faced by women in Pakistan.
An array of cultural performances will follow the play most markedly that of Khanzada Asfandyar Khattak, who will perform fusion Attan to enthral the audience.
The night time activity will centre around an exciting concert by Bakshi Brothers who will perform cultural, Sufi and other popular numbers for the audience.
SUCCESS is a six-year long (2015–21) programme funded by the European Union and implemented by Rural Support Programmes Network (RSPN), National Rural Support Programme (NRSP), Sindh Rural Support Organisation (SRSO) and Thardeep Rural Development Programme (TRDP) in eight districts of Sindh, namely; Kamber Shahdadkot, Larkana, Dadu, Jamshoro, Matiari, Sujawal, Tando Allahyar and Tando Muhammad Khan.
SUCCESS aims to reduce poverty by empowering women to take charge of their own leadership and development.
