BEIJING, July 14 (APP):Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Monday that the meeting of the Council of the Ministers Foreign Ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States aims to make political preparations for the Tianjin Summit.
China is willing to take this meeting as an opportunity to uphold the Shanghai Spirit and work with all parties to build a shared home featuring solidarity and mutual trust, peace and tranquility, prosperity and development, good-neighborliness and friendship, as well as fairness and justice, Lin said while commenting on the meeting during his regular briefing held here.
The Meeting of the Council of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the SCO Member States to be held in Tianjin on Tuesday.
Lin noted that China, as the rotating presidency of the SCO for 2024-2025, will host the summit in Tianjin this fall, and the foreign ministers’ council meeting aims to make political preparations for the Tianjin Summit.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will chair the Tuesday meeting, where foreign ministers of member states will exchange views on cooperation in various SCO fields and major international and regional issues, and sign a series of resolutions and documents.
China is willing to take this meeting as an opportunity to uphold the Shanghai Spirit, align with the SCO chairmanship slogan “SCO in Action,” and work with all parties to implement President Xi Jinping’s important initiatives for building a shared home featuring solidarity and mutual trust, peace and tranquility, prosperity and development, good-neighborliness and friendship, as well as fairness and justice, Lin said.
This will help consolidate more consensus on cooperation, achieve more cooperative measures, ensure the complete success of the Tianjin Summit, and promote the SCO into a new stage of high-quality development, added the spokesperson.
At the invitation of Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, foreign ministers of other SCO member states and heads of SCO’s permanent bodies will attend the meeting.
Parties will exchange views on SCO cooperation in various fields and major international and regional issues.
