KOHAT, Jul 14 (APP):In a determined effort to eliminate polio, the ‘Big Catch-Up Round III’ anti-polio campaign was officially launched here at the District Health Office and District Emergency Operation Center (DEOC).
The campaign was inaugurated by Deputy District Health Officer Dr Haroon Nasir Khattak, who administered the first drops of the polio vaccine to a child, symbolizing the start of the door-to-door immunization drive.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Khattak emphasized the collective responsibility of society in the fight against polio.
“Complete eradication of this disease is only possible with the cooperation of every individual. Parents must ensure their children receive polio drops in every campaign,” he said.
The event was also attended by World Health Organization (WHO) Area Coordinator Dr Saifullah, who reaffirmed the organization’s full support for Pakistan’s polio eradication efforts.
“This campaign is a crucial part of our broader strategy, and we stand with the Government of Pakistan in achieving a polio-free future,” he stated.
Members of the DEOC team, health department officials, and civil society representatives were also present, collectively vowing to make the campaign a success and underscoring that eradicating polio is a national responsibility with no room for negligence.
The Big Catch-Up Round III campaign is specifically aimed at vaccinating children who may have missed previous rounds of immunization. Trained teams will visit households across the district to administer oral polio vaccine to all children under the age of five.
Health officials have appealed to the public to extend full cooperation to vaccination teams to ensure a safe and healthy future for the next generation.
