MUZAFFARGARH , Jul 11 (APP):A 12-year-old boy tragically drowned in the Thal Canal near Pull 88 in Kot Addu Tehsil on Thursday morning. Rescue 1122 teams recovered the body and handed it over to the family after completing legal formalities.
According to Rescue 1122 Control Room Muzaffargarh, an emergency call was received around 6:42 AM reporting that a body was seen floating in the Thal Canal, which branches from the Muzaffargarh Canal. Rescue teams were immediately dispatched and reached the location within 19 minutes.
Upon arrival, the Rescue 1122 staff confirmed that the deceased was identified as Muhammad Yaqoob, aged about 12 years, who had drowned while bathing to beat the scorching heat. The body was retrieved, covered respectfully, and shifted to THQ Hospital Kot Addu under police supervision for necessary legal procedures.
Local police were informed and arrived on the scene to assist in the recovery and handover process. The tragic incident highlights the recurring risk of drowning during summer when children bathe unsupervised in rivers and canals.
Rescue 1122 has once again appealed to the public to avoid swimming in open water bodies without safety measures and parental supervision, especially during the summer season.
