RAWALPINDI, Jul 11 (APP):WASA Managing Director Muhammad Saleem Ashraf has said that work was underway on projects to provide clean
water to the garrison city under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz,.
The Rawalpindi city would get 25 MGD (million gallons per day) water from Rs 35 billion programme launched with the support of the Asian Development Bank, the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) chief elaborated in a statement on Friday.
Similarly, the Dadocha Dam project on completion would meet the water requirements of the city by providing 35 million gallons of water, he added.
Likewise, he mentioned, the Indus River water project for Rawalpindi and Islamabad (known as (Ghazi Barotha Water Supply Project) would provide 200 MGD water, 100 million gallons each, to the twin cities of to Rawalpindi City and Islamabad.
The water projects launched in the light of the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on completion would help mitigate water shortage in Rawalpindi, he added.
The WASA MD said like elsewhere in Punjab, filtration plants were also being installed in Rawalpindi. Providing clean and abundant water to the public was the top priority of CM Maryam Nawaz, he added.
