HAVELIAN, Jul 11 (APP):A section of the Havelian Bypass Bridge has dangerously shifted, posing a serious threat to public safety and raising fears of a major accident. Locals report that more than half of the bridge’s side has sunk, yet the relevant authorities have taken no concrete action.
Every day, thousands of vehicles including school vans filled with children, ambulances transporting patients, and passenger vehicles travel across this deteriorating structure. Despite the apparent danger, the administration has limited its response to photo sessions, with no practical steps taken to address the crisis.
According to residents, the foundations beneath the bridge have become hollow and unstable, with visible cracks now appearing in the structure. “We voted for roads, not for graves,” remarked a frustrated local. “There are cracks underneath while heavy traffic continues above and the authorities don’t seem to care.”
The public has expressed deep concern and anger over the situation, warning that they will take to the streets if urgent repairs are not initiated. “We won’t remain silent anymore. If necessary, we’ll block the Karakoram Highway to force officials to act,” a local resident declared.
