DC inspects WASA operations for rapid drainage of rainwater

FAISALABAD, Jul 11 (APP):Deputy Commissioner (DC) Captain (retd) Nadeem Nasir paid a detailed visit to various parts of the city to review and inspect the emergency response and drainage efforts made by Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) for rapid drainage of rainwater.
He went to Bilal Chowk, Iqbal Stadium, Riaz Shahid Chowk, Millat Chowk, Gulistan Colony and Boley Di Jhugi where he inspected WASA emergency relief camps, de-silting operations and performance of field staff.
He also checked the presence of WASA staff at relief camps in addition to availability and condition of safety equipment and operational readiness of the machinery.
He said that field staff must remain active to ensure quick removal of rainwater especially from low-lying areas.
He directed the assistant commissioners, WASA officials and municipal committees to stay active in the field during rain to avoid any public inconvenience.
He stressed the need to accelerate efforts for clearing major roads and intersections from rainfall so as to ensure smooth flow of vehicular traffic and movement of pedestrians.
He said that supervisory officers and field staff must be present in the field and perform their duties with utmost responsibility and dedication.
Managing Director (MD) WASA Sohail Qadir Cheema briefed the deputy commissioner and said that all necessary resources are being utilized for effective drainage of rainwater.
Water levels at all disposal stations are being closely monitored to maintain optimal functionality and prevent urban flooding, he added.
