QUETTA, Jul 11 (APP):Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhel on Friday said on the occasion of World Population Day that the province is facing a major challenge due to unprecedented population growth, limited resources and environmental degradation.
He said that through this observation, we need to create awareness about the importance of balanced population growth for a healthy environment.
Reproductive health and family planning services are key to achieving this balance, especially in reducing maternal and child mortality rates, he said.
He said that given Balochistan’s highest maternal mortality rate in Pakistan, it is very important to improve health care and family planning services.
The Governor said that we must work to provide better services, including access to contraceptives, quality health care and education, especially for girls.
He also urged political parties, civil society and community leaders to collaborate in prioritizing health and family planning for a prosperous Balochistan adding that by enhancing linkages to community-level services, we could achieve healthy outcomes.
Sustainable development requires balanced population growth and smaller family sizes, which can only be achieved through the right policies and collective efforts, he said.
