DC Sukkur presides over meeting to discuss vaccination drive

SUKKUR, Jul 11 (APP):Deputy Commissioner Sukkur, Dr. MB Raja Dharejo on Friday presided over a meeting at the Conference Hall to discuss the ongoing vaccination drive in the district.
The meeting was attended by District Focal Person Dr. Tanveer Abbasi, Dr. Fareed Hussain, Dr. Noor Ahmed, and representatives from UNICEF, WHO, Local Government, Sukkur Municipal Corporation, Police, and other related departments.
During the meeting, DC Sukkur reviewed the progress made in the first two rounds of the Big Catch Up campaign and discussed the upcoming third round, scheduled from July 14 to 26.
He directed the officials to ensure that the next round is conducted more effectively, with the availability of required facilities, to vaccinate children who have missed their shots due to various reasons.
Dr. Tanveer Abbasi and Dr. Fareed Hussain briefed the participants about the third round of the Big Catch Up campaign, which aims to vaccinate children aged 0-5 years against diseases like measles, rubella, tetanus, hepatitis B, pneumonia, polio, and others.
The district has set a target of vaccinating 42,942 children in Sukkur City, New Sukkur, Rohri, Saleh Pat, and Panu Aqil talukas, with a special focus on covering zero-dose children and those who have been left out.
The meeting was informed that 145 teams, designated by the Health Department, will carry out the vaccination drive.
Dr. MB Raja Dharejo also inquired about the contingency plan in case the campaign is affected by potential monsoon rains and was assured that alternative dates will be arranged after July 26 to cover the remaining areas.
