MULTAN, Jul 11 (APP):Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) South Punjab leaders hailed Chairman Senate and former Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gillani acquittal by Federal anti corruption court, here on Friday.
In a statement here, PPP’s former Member Punjab Assembly Ahmed Mujtaba Gilani, and Vice President PPP Multan City Mian Muhammad Azeem Saeed, hailed the court’s verdict as a victory for truth, law, and the Constitution. They stated that Gilani has always upheld the supremacy of the Constitution and remained steadfast in serving the people, even in the most challenging times. They claimed that the cases were fabricated by political opponents to mask their failures and to undermine the popularity of the Gilani family.
However, they said, truth always prevails. The continuous acquittals, they added, are a clear indication of Chairman Senate integrity, respectability, and honesty, with no evidence of corruption ever proven against him.
Commenting on the TDAP case, Ahmed Mujtaba Gilani noted that no substantial evidence could be presented in court, and after fulfilling all legal requirements, Yusuf Raza Gillani was exonerated. He urged institutions like NAB and other accountability bodies to abandon the practice of being used as tools for political victimisation. He stated that dragging public representatives into baseless legal battles is essentially an insult to the public mandate. Gilani’s acquittal has boosted the morale of PPP workers and reinvigorated democratic forces across the country.
They demanded a thorough investigation into the origin of these false cases and called for exposing those who misused national institutions for political gain.
It merits mentioning here that among nine cases that were described as false and politically motivated was the high-profile Trade Development Authority of Pakistan(TDAP) case.
