The provincial government is taking priority-based initiatives to promote adventure tourism in the region. The Tirich Mir summit will significantly enhance tourism in Chitral.
These views were expressed by Director General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (CTA), Habibullah Arif, during a press conference.
While speaking to the media at the KP Culture and Tourism Authority’s conference hall, DG Habibullah Arif said that in order to promote the highest peak of the Hindu Kush mountain range, local participation was encouraged, resulting in more than 500 male and over 100 female trekkers submitted applications.
Under the directives of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, various activities are being organized to promote tourism in the province. The provincial government has also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Italian Professor Pinelli. Soon, an Adventure Training School will be established in Chitral, where both men and women from the province will be trained.
The second group of trekkers will depart for Tirich Mir Base Camp in the last week of July, and the third group in the first week of August. Local porters have been included in the Tirich Mir summit expedition, which will directly benefit the local community.
Additionally, the provincial government has announced a waiver of the royalty fee for the year 2025-26, which normally ranges from $2,500 to $4,000. This initiative is expected to benefit the economy of Chitral, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Pakistan as a whole in the long term.
