WAH CANTONMENT, Jul 10 (APP):Two drug peddlers, including a female member of an intercity narcotics racket, were sentenced to different terms by special courts in Taxila on Thursday.
According to a police spokesman, Javeria, a female drug peddler was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment and fined Rs 0.12 million by a special court for the Control of Narcotics Substances (CNS).
She was arrested by Wah Saddar Police on October 20, 2024, while carrying 1.60 kilograms of heroin. A case was registered against her under section 9-C CNSA, 1997. The court pronounced the judgment after recording statements of witnesses and final arguments from both sides.
In another case, Muhammad Naeem was sentenced to 9 years’ imprisonment and fined Rs 80,000 by a special court for the CNS. Naeem was arrested by the same police with 1.54 kilograms of hashish at his den in December 2023. The court convicted him under section 9-C CNSA, 1997.
The sentences highlight the strict action being taken against narcotics peddlers in the region. The courts have been pronouncing judgments based on evidence and witness statements, sending a strong message against drug trafficking.
