FAISALABAD, Jul 10 (APP):Divisional Commissioner Maryam Khan has said that 500 water filtration plants have been made fully functional across the division.
Presiding over a meeting here on Thursday, she said that Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Maryam Nawaz had issued special directions to ensure provision of clean drinking water to the citizens. In this connection, comprehensive steps are being taken to implement these directives in letter and spirit.
She said that Punjab Saaf Pani Authority has been activated to accelerate water purification initiatives and so far 500 water filtration plants have been made fully functional across all four districts of Faisalabad division.
She said that 160 previously non-functional plants were also revamped to restore their working condition and extend clean water access to underserved communities.
She said that various strategies were discussed to expand the coverage of filtration plants. In this regard installation of 1,127 new water filtration plants in the areas affected by brackish water was also discussed as brackish water poses serious health risks to local populations.
She directed that all available resources should be mobilized to guarantee safe drinking water for every household. she said that clean water is not only essential for health but it also plays a vital role in preventing diseases and reducing medical expenses for families.
The upgradation and restoration of existing filtration plants would ensure an uninterrupted supply of clean water to urban and rural populations alike.
During briefing, divisional commissioner was informed that Punjab Saaf Pani Authority has already installed 133 additional water filtration plants across various locations.
Deputy Commissioners from all four districts participated in the meeting and shared detailed updates on the local measures being taken to improve water quality and delivery infrastructure in their respective regions.
