Sargodha, Jul 10 (APP):A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Sargodha Division Jahanzeb Awan to discuss the monsoon tree plantation campaign.
According to the Commissioner office spokesperson here on Thursday, the meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners of all four districts, Director General PHA, Conservator of Forests, and representatives from the Departments of Schools Education, Colleges, and Agriculture.
The meeting reviewed the objectives of the tree plantation campaign, preparations and details of plant growth from previous years.
The Commissioner emphasized the importance of purposeful and effective tree plantation in government vacant spaces, educational institutions, roadsides and parks across the division.
During the meeting, the Commissioner directed the officers to ensure eco-friendly, long-lasting, and climate-suitable tree plantation, adopt an integrated strategy for plantation drives.
He also directed to select plants that are likely to grow and positively impact the environment, focus on maintaining and improving the survival rate of previously planted trees.
Jahanzeb Awan also directed all Deputy Commissioners to monitor the campaign at the district level and utilize available resources to make the plantation drive fruitful.
On the occasion, the Forest department and Punjab Horticulture Authority provided a detailed briefing on plantation targets for Monsoon 2025 and a report was presented on the current status of previously planted trees.
