HYDERABAD, Jul 10 (APP):The Abdul Majid Bhurgri Institute of Language Engineering Hyderabad has been awarded certification by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for integrating the Sindhi language into Artificial Intelligence systems, developing advanced linguistic frameworks and aligning them with global standards. This achievement has placed the institute on the list of “Global Inter-Certification” and earned international recognition.
According to a press release, the Director of the Institute Amar Fayaz Buriro congratulated the people of Sindh on this prestigious international certification granted to an institution established by the provincial department of culture, tourism, antiquities & archives. He remarked that this certificate not only encourages the institute to continue working on sustainable and futuristic projects for the Sindhi language but also serves as a responsibility to preserve and develop this ancient and thousands of years old language through modern methodologies and research.
He further added that while the Sindhi language is not currently under immediate threat, however, its survival depends on its consistent use in households, educational institutions and even in market-driven spaces. If we fail to incorporate the language in daily life, it will become a matter of concern.
Amar Fayaz Buriro also mentioned that the institute has developed a font that incorporates scripts from the Indus Valley Civilization, Khudawadi, and Abul Hasan scripts including symbolic scripts developed by Ernest Trump and merged these with today’s modern Sindhi alphabet.
He said that thousands of researchers around the world had downloaded this font and were using it in their research, and the most use had been by researchers from foreign countries. It was unfortunate that we had paid less attention to it, which shows the nature of our relationship with our own language.
He commended the entire team of the institute working day and night to include Sindhi in international AI systems, crediting their dedication for the ISO recognition. He also extended his gratitude to the administration of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University, Shaheed Benazirabad, whose students were actively participating in the institute’s projects.
