Wheelchairs distributed among 20 differently-abled persons

SARGODHA, Jul 10 (APP):In line with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz to empower differently-abled persons and integrate them as active members of society, the Department of Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Mal organised a ceremony at District Council Hall Sargodha, where 20 deserving individuals were provided with wheelchairs here on Thursday.
The event was attended by Member Provincial Assembly of PML-N Mian Ikram-ul-Haq as the chief guest.
Other notable attendees included President PML-N Tehsil Sillanwali Rana Nadeem Ahmad, Director Social Welfare Shakira Noreen, and Deputy Director Zeba Andleeb.
Addressing the ceremony, Mian Ikram-ul-Haq said the true guests of honor were the differently-abled children and individuals present, who deserve society’s utmost attention, care, and facilities. He emphasised that the Punjab government is translating the concept of a welfare state into reality through special initiatives for persons with disabilities.
He said that a total of 910 applications for assistance from differently-abled individuals had been received from across the division, after verification, aid was being provided in phases, including wheelchairs, artificial limbs, and other supportive equipment,adding that  in this phase, 20 individuals received wheelchairs.
Rana Nadeem Ahmad said revolutionary programme like the Himmat Card had been launched by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, through which differently-abled persons are being granted monthly financial assistance of Rs. 10,500. He said that beyond financial aid, it is the collective responsibility of society to ensure dignity, employment opportunities, and full inclusion for these individuals.
 “Society must shift from sympathy to equality and support, enabling them to live with self-respect,” Rana Nadeem Ahamd added.
