LAHORE, Jul 08 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif paid rich tribute to the legendary humanitarian Abdul Sattar Edhi on his 8th death anniversary, calling him a beacon of compassion and selfless public service.
In her message, the chief minister said, “I salute Abdul Sattar Edhi for his lifelong dedication to humanity. His life is a testament to the power of sincerity, proving that even a single individual, driven by a pure heart, can change the world for the better.”
She described Edhi as “the pride of Pakistan,” whose name and noble deeds will live on forever. “People like Abdul Sattar Edhi represent the highest ideals of humanity and remain the shining light of any society,” she remarked.
CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized, “His years of service, rendered without any greed or personal gain, highlight the unmatched character and humility that defined his life. Abdul Sattar Edhi’s example is one every human being should strive to follow.” She added that Edhi’s mission of public welfare must continue without pause. “His name has become a symbol of dignity and reverence not just in Pakistan, but around the globe,” she said, adding that those who serve humanity selflessly are among the dearest to Allah Almighty.
The CM said that the candle lit by Edhi Sahib continues to brighten millions of lives to this day, and described his life as a guiding light for social workers around the world. She added, “Inspired by Edhi’s legacy, the Punjab government has launched initiatives such as the ‘Himmat Card’, Ration Card, and ‘Dhee Rani’ Program, all aimed at serving humanity without discrimination.”
