LAHORE, Jul 08 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has issued high alert directives to all relevant departments in response to torrential rains across Punjab, including the provincial capital, Lahore.
The CM instructed departments to ensure an active field presence and swift response to public needs during the ongoing weather emergency. She specifically directed WASA, PDMA, Local Government, Rescue 1122, and Traffic Police to remain fully mobilized in the field to supervise relief operations, drainage efforts, and traffic management.
The CM instructed commissioners and deputy commissioners to continuously monitor water drainage in low-lying and flood-prone areas. Emphasizing the need for visible oversight, CM Maryam Nawaz also directed WASA officials and district administration to carry out on-ground self-monitoring rather than relying solely on reports.
In view of traffic disruptions due to heavy rainfall, she directed traffic police to prepare and issue a comprehensive traffic plan, ensuring that citizens are timely informed about alternative routes.
CM Maryam Nawaz underscored the importance of immediate resolution of all issues faced by the public due to stagnant rainwater, adding that prompt and coordinated response is essential for minimizing inconvenience to citizens during the ongoing monsoon spell.
