KHANEWAL, Jul 08 (APP):In a decisive move against environmental pollution, the district administration has taken strong action by sealing a brick kiln that failed to adopt eco-friendly technology.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. Salma Suleman conducted a surprise inspection at a brick kiln located near Awan Chowk. The kiln was found to be operating without the mandatory Zigzag technology, a cleaner and more efficient method of brick production. As a result, the kiln was immediately sealed on the spot.
The company operating the kiln was also slapped with a heavy fine of Rs. 100,000 for non-compliance with environmental standards.
Deputy Director Environment, Sarfraz Anjum, accompanied the DC during the inspection. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Salma Suleman emphasized that no leniency will be shown to those causing harm to the environment. She urged all kiln owners to adopt environment-friendly technologies without delay.
She stated that the kilns contributing to pollution will not be tolerated under any circumstances, adding that the district administration will continue to monitor all kilns regularly and special teams will be deployed to inspect other facilities.
