RAWALPINDI, Jul 07 (APP):Rawalpindi Police has made strict security arrangements for the main procession of 11th Muharram-ul-Haram.
According to City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani, over 2,100 police officers and cops are on duty for the procession’s security.In total, more than 8,000 officers and officials are deployed across the city for Muharram security.
Over 200 personnel are managing traffic to ensure smooth flow and prevent any disruptions.
Senior officers are personally present in the field to supervise all arrangements.
Walk-through gates have been installed at entry points, and every participant is being allowed entry only after a full body search.
The Safe City Rawalpindi cameras, along with more than 2,000 other surveillance cameras, are being used for monitoring. Snipers have also been deployed on rooftops along the route to ensure safety.
CPO Hamdani added that streets and roads leading to the procession route have been sealed, and complete implementation of the code of conduct and Punjab government directives is being ensured.
He said the police are taking all possible steps to maintain peace and provide foolproof security during Muharram-ul-Haram.
