IGP reviews security arrangements for Ashura processions

ISLAMABAD, Jul 06 (APP):Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi on Sunday visited I-10, F-11, and Jhangi Syedan to review security arrangements for Ashura processions and majalis, under a high-alert deployment across the capital.

A public relations officer told APP that the IG Rizvi accompanied by senior officers, assessed the security measures at multiple procession routes and stressed the importance of maintaining strict vigilance during 10th Muharram.
IG Rizvi emphasized that over 4,000 police officers and personnel had been deployed across Islamabad to ensure the safety of all religious gatherings.
IG informed that a total of 12 processions and 48 majalis were scheduled to be held on Ashura day, while 76 processions and 498 majalis had already been provided full security coverage through the 9th of Muharram.
Rizvi said that 57 security checkpoints had been established throughout the district, where participants were allowed entry only after thorough checking.
He noted that lady police officers had been deployed to ensure proper screening of female participants.
IG Rizvi underlined that the entire security operation was being monitored through Safe City surveillance systems, body-worn cameras, and drones.
He added that both central and mobile control rooms were actively supervising the district-wide security arrangements in real time.
IG Rizvi reiterated that Islamabad Police was fully committed to ensuring peace and order during Ashura through coordinated efforts and complete operational readiness.
