MULTAN, Jul 03 (APP):Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) South Punjab Fuad Hashim Rabbani visited the Burns Unit to inquire after female students injured in an LPG cylinder blast that occurred in a passenger van in Ahmadpur East.
During his visit, he met the injured students, inquired about their health and medical treatment being provided. Professor Dr. Ijaz Hussain Shah briefed him on the condition of the patients and the ongoing treatment.
Fuad Rabbani expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident, terming it extremely unfortunate. He stated that the Punjab government stands in full solidarity with the families of the deceased and injured students.
The ACS reiterated that the use of LPG cylinders in commercial vehicles was strictly prohibited. He noted that district administrations across South Punjab have initiated a crackdown against vehicles operating with LPG cylinders.
Despite fines and impounding of vehicles at police stations, the illegal use of LPG cylinders in commercial transport continues, putting passengers’ lives at serious risk, he added.
Rabbani emphasised the urgent need for an effective strategy to curb this practice and said that a summary with policy recommendations would soon be sent to the Punjab government.
