Man sentenced to 10 years in prison, Rs.40.5mn fine for unlawful sale of drugs

RAWALPINDI, Jul 01 (APP):A Drug Court has sentenced a man to 10 years in prison and imposed a fine of Rs. 40.5 million for illegal sale of drugs.
According to the details, Anees Iqbal, a resident of Peshawar, was convicted under Section 23 (1) (a) (vii) of the Drugs Act, 1976, for selling and possessing unregistered drugs, and was awarded a 7-year sentence and a fine of Rs. 40.0 million. He was also sentenced to 3 years under Section 27 (1) for selling drugs without a license, with a fine of Rs. 500,000. Additionally, if he fails to pay the fine, he will face an extra 18 months in prison.
The court, with Judge Muhammad Faisal Butt chairman, and members Shahid Zafar and Dr. Azhar Ali Haider, has ordered the Superintendent of Adiala Jail to take the culprit into custody.
