FAISALABAD, Jul 01 (APP):The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) responded to more than 14,000 emergency calls and rescued 14,435 individuals during the last month.
District Emergency Officer (DEO) Zafar Iqbal said on Tuesday that the Rescue 1122 control room received 14,149 emergency calls, including 2,754 about accidents, 9,560 about medical emergencies, 205 of fire incidents, 382 about crime-related cases, 15 about drowning incidents, 16 about building collapses, 80 about electrocutions and 1,013 calls about miscellaneous emergencies.
He said the Rescue 1122 responded promptly in each case and showed remarkable efficiency particularly fire incidents and its intervention prevented damage
to properties estimated at more than Rs 560 million.
The Rescue 1122 teams also rescued birds and animals in 124 calls which reflected their
broader commitment to life-saving, he added.
