BEIJING, June 10 (APP): Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua on Sunday appreciated the Chinese leadership for the successful Shanghai Cooperation (SCO) Summit and said this organization has become an important tool for connectivity in the region and beyond.
“We particularly appreciate the work China has done in this regard because President Xi vision of Belt and Road Initiative has brought not only the region but many parts of the world together,” she told China Global Television (CGTN) on the sidelines of the 18th SCO Summit in China’s coastal city Qingdao.
While expressing here pleasure to be part of the SCO, she thanked all the friendly countries who were the members of this organization for their support to Pakistan.
Regarding the importance of the SCO for Pakistan, she said, ”It is particularly important for us because we are linked under the larger rubric of BRI.”
China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a flagship project of the BRI provided a great opportunity for connectivity in the region and for greater integration within the SCO region as well, she added.
Tehmina Janjua said alongside a number of agreements, the SCO would adopt a treaty of good neighborliness which was very important to ensure peace and stability, economic development and greater connectivity between the entire the region.
