LAHORE, Jun 27 (APP): An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday extended the interim bail of Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub, until August 8 in connection with three cases related to the May-9 violence.
ATC Judge Manzer Ali Gill conducted the proceedings on pre-arrest bail petitions, filed by the PTI leader. The cases pertain to the attacks on Jinnah House and Askari Tower, as well as the arson incident at Shadman Police Station during the May 9 protests.
Despite the expiry of his interim bail, Omar Ayub failed to appear before the court. His legal counsel submitted a plea seeking one-day exemption from personal appearance, citing unavoidable circumstances.
The court accepted the exemption request and extended the interim bail until the next hearing. It also directed the police to present the case records on August 8.
