LAHORE, Jun 26 (APP): The Punjab government has decided to take forward the “Eco-Friendly Punjab Vision” of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
Additional Secretary Local Government Ahmer Kaifi told APP that under the Clean (Suthra) Punjab, waste will be used for energy production and other purposes.
This has been decided in a recent meeting that was held at the Civil Secretariat under the chairmanship of Punjab Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique. Lahore Waste Management Company CEO Babar Sahib Din was briefed on the project.
It is worth mentioning here that the “Suthra Punjab” vision is a provincial initiative of Punjab government, focused on improving sanitation and waste management. Spearheaded by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the program is operational to create a cleaner, healthier environment across the province, encompassing both urban and rural areas. It envisions a “Zero Waste Punjab”.
Meanwhile, following this vision, cleanliness on Eidul Adha was largely successful in several cities and regions of the province. Various reports indicate that municipalities and sanitation departments effectively managed waste disposal and maintained public hygiene during a three-day festival.
