RAWALPINDI, Jun 25 (APP): District Emergency Officer Rawalpindi, Engineer Sibghatullah has said that Rescue 1122 teams put on high alert to deal with possible flood.
Speaking to APP on Wednesday, he said that emergency staff has been deployed at 19 key locations across Rawalpindi city and Cantt to prevent rain-related damages and ensure quick response in case of flooding.
According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains are expected in next few days, and areas near rivers and nullahs have been marked as at risk of overflowing.
These vulnerable points included Katarian Bridge, Bangash Colony, Zia-ul-Haq Colony, Pirwadhai, Boring Road Dhoke Mangtal, PSO Pump area in Pirwadhai, Dhoke Najo Khayaban Sir Syed, Dhoke Dalal near Chungi No. 4, M. Hussain Bridge, Mehr Colony Dhoke Hassu, Hazara Colony Bridge in Ganjmandi, Dhoke Ratta, and Gawalmandi.
Rescue teams will also be deployed including Dhok Elahi Bakhsh, Sadiqabad, Javed Colony, Nadeem Colony, Tipu Road, Aslam Market, Tahli Mori, Faisal Colony, Bakra Mandi, Jan Colony, Tench Bhata, Banaras Colony, Range Road, Sheron Colony, and Sujan Camp.
The District Emergency Officer said Rescue 1122 is fully equipped with gadgets to cope with flood including boats, life jackets, life rings, and other necessary tools.
In addition, Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) and Civil Defense working with coordination to protect lives and property during emergencies.
“We are ready to respond to any situation and ensure the safety of the public,” he added.
