LAHORE, Jun 24 (APP): Chairperson Punjab Women Protection Authority (PWPA) Hina Pervaiz Butt visited the house of a young Christian girl, who was raped in Manga Mandi area of Lahore, here on Tuesday.
According to the FIR, the girl was not only repeatedly sexually abused by her paternal uncle, but was also later handed over to other individuals. Hina Pervaiz Butt described the tragic incident as a grave attack on human values and the sanctity of familial bonds. She said the incident was enough to shake the collective conscience of society. “When a girl is subjected to such cruelty by a close relative and treated as a toy in the hands of others, the silence of the state becomes a crime,” she added.
The chairperson paid tribute to the police for the prompt arrest of all the main accused and said that the case is not just about the girl or her family, it is a case of conscience of the entire minority community and society.
Hina Pervaiz announced that the PWPA will provide complete legal, medical, psychological and social protection to the victim girl, and the case will remain under their direct supervision. “We will try our best to get the culprits punished as a party in the court,” she added.
The chairperson PWPA conveyed a message to the minority community, stating that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision is to make Punjab a safe place for women and minorities. “We will not back down even an inch from this mission. Whoever commits a crime will not escape the clutches of the law,” she concluded.
