LAHORE, Jun 24 (APP):The local met office has predicted first monsoon shower spell likely to start from Wednesday in most parts of the country, including the provincial capital.
According to Pakistan Meteorological Department, moist currents are penetrating upper and central parts of the country and likely to become intensified in next 24 hours.
A westerly wave is expected to approach upper parts on June 25 and likely to become significant on 26th of June.
Under the influence of these meteorological conditions, rain wind/thundershower with scattered heavy falls (at times very heavy) is expected in Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Okara, Kasur, Khushab, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Mianwali and Potohar Region from Wednesday to Sunday with occasional gaps. Rain wind/thundershower is expected in Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, DG Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Rahimyar Khan and Layyah from June 26 to 28.
Monsoon spell is also expected in most parts of the Kashmir/Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Sindh during the same period.
Heavy to very heavy rains may generate flash flood in local nullahs/streams from 26th June to 1st July while heavy Downpour may cause urban flood in low lying areas of Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Nowshera and Peshawar from 26th June to 01st July.
Landslides may cause roads closure in the vulnerable hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the wet spell.
Heavy downpour/windstorm and lightning may affect daily routines, and may damage weak structures like roof/wall of Kacha houses, electric poles, bill boards, vehicles and solar panels etc during the forecast period.
Farmers are advised to manage their activities keeping in view the weather forecast and travelers and tourists are advised to remain extra cautious and manage their traveling according to weather conditions and avoid any untoward situation during the wet spell.
