MUZAFFARABAD, Jun 23 (APP): The 56th Syndicate meeting of the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK) was held here on Monday at the Aiwan-e-Sadr with President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry in the Chair.
Addressing the meeting, the President, who is also the Chancellor Azad Jammu and Kashmir Universities, directed the Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Nadeem Haider Bukhari and the University administration to make every possible effort to improve the quality of education in the University. He emphasized on modernizing education in line with the requirements of the new era. He said that research, and teaching processes should be promoted to improve quality of education and effectiveness.
The Syndicate meeting was attended by Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Professor Dr. Nadeem Haider Bukhari, Secretary for Presidential Affairs, Dr. Muhammad Idrees Abbasi, Vice Chancellor of the Punjab University, Professor Dr. Muhammad Ali, Secretary for Higher Education, Chaudhry Muhammad Tayyab, Representative Chairman of the Higher Education Commission, Asif Hussain, Representative Federal Secretary for Education, Naseem Ahmed Khan, Representative Federal Secretary for Finance, Ms. Tahira Mubeen, Former Director General of Health, Dr. Bashir Chaudhry, Former Chairman of the Board of Education, Chaudhry Muhammad Zaheer, Representative Vice Chancellor of Quaid-e-Azam University, Professor Dr. Tasawar Hayat, Registrar of the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Professor Dr. Saadat Hanif Dar and others.
During the meeting, the Acting Vice Chancellor gave a detailed briefing to the President on curricular and co-curricular activities at the University. He also briefed the participants about the ongoing projects, administrative matters and challenges facing the University.
On this occasion, the search committee’s recommendations for the appointment of the permanent Vice Chancellor were also discussed.
